MIM, A COMMUNITY BOASTING OF VAST LANDSCAPE LACKS LAND TO CONSTRUCT MARKET
The Municipal Chief Executive for Asunafo North Municipality, Hon. Osei Yaw Boahen made a shocking revelation earlier this week of having to redirect the funds the municipal assembly secured to put up an ultra-modern market structure in Mim into the construction of inner town roads because the Assembly didn’t get land in the community for the edifice.
The M.C.E. made this known during a town hall meeting organized by Mim Community Development Foundation (MICDEF) last Sunday at Mim Roman Catholic Parish Hall.
According to him, the funds they secured have to be used before it appropriation date expires. As a result of that, the assembly decided to redirect the fund into the construction of the community’s inner town roads.
He justified the assembly decision by saying that both the traditional and urban councils could not provide suitable land for such an ultra-modern edifice at Mim which is the biggest town in Ahafo Region.
Edifices like that need to be built at the heart of the community or within a confined zone in the community but it’s rather unfortunate the land the traditional and the urban council provided were on the outskirt of the community- He added.
He however promised to complete the ‘Daadaa Dwa’ project construction before his tenure in office ends.
