WOMEN IN AHAFO MIM ZONGO HORRIFIED AS BOTH MALES AND FEMALES RESORT TO A SINGLE-TOILET UNIT AND A DEATH TRAP STRUCTURE

Folks in Mim Zongo a community in Asunfo North Municipality in the Ahafo Region especially women devastated by the current state of the only public toilet facility in the community. The structure which is believed to be over 20 years was sponsored by the European Union and the government of Ghana.

The female unit which serves over 1000 women in the community has been closed down for the past two months. The members revealed both male and females now has to resort to the male unit while others have to resort to the nearest basic schools to ease themselves.

According to members of the community, sanitation has become a major challenge in the community as open defecation is on the rise.

After the facility attendant refused to answer questions by the Rejoice media presenters, the team reached out to the assemblyman of the community on AMANSAN NTIE where he revealed the local assembly has handed over the facility to a private developer and it has been in their care for the past couple of years.

Members of the community are however pleading with the government and the assembly to complete the ultra-modern toilet structure being put up and abandoned for the past two years right behind the old facility for the community since the old facility has become a death trap itself considering its deplorable state.
